Remembering Gaia
Apr 22
Hail Gaia! Mother Earth,
Living force of our bio-sphere
Our protector, Our moderator of temperate winds
Good Morning! Thank You Gaia
For all humans are in your debt
Science now recognizes you Gaia, Mother Earth-
You are alive an ingenious single species system
As resourceful as our partner insects, avian,
Mammal brethren, vegetative and microbial
Today Gaia!
We sing to your blankets of green pasture
Your circumference in blue
Your angel white puffs cumulous
Gaia, we share today our dooming worry for your survival
We overpopulated, tribal humans
We are awake and-
Now see the damage we have caused you
Gaia your channels to the ocean’s depth are blocked
The once porous filter upon which Darwinian natural selection rests
Red rivers threatened to poison your precious
Deep well aquifers-
Tribal blogs scheme to steal the bare resources of the other
And, we Gaia, Mother,
We suffer our rape of your carboniferous deposits
Your rocks, alive, those we crush to death
To steal for use by the few
They leave us bankrupt-
Gaia, before your near death
Help us scream aloud
Let our tribal governments
Hear our demand
Unite the tribal scream Gaia-
To one loud United Nation accord
Reduce our weighted step upon your body, Gaia
Reduce our number
Reduce our consumption
Hail Gaia! on this your good, orderly, day
We sing for the cessation of harm to your ending
We sing that the Amazon stays plump in its exotic essence
Amen to Gaia, Mother Earth
Our bounty rests with you.
